Description
This was a special project done in collaboration with Award winning Photographer and TV Director, Steve Procko ( Blue Ridge)on a Historical Documentary referencing the short time frame of Two bridges standing at the same time in 1920 in McCayesville, GA on the Toccoa River. Steve‘s research of the historical documents, interviews, photography from above and below surface of the Toccoa River provided the information that the old covered and the new steel bridge stood at the same time for a brief time in 1920-1921, hence the name- “A Brief Moment in History- Two Bridges in McCaysville.“ This Year McCaysville celebrates their 100th year of their town in History! The Documentary using my illustration can be found on YouTube: Steve Procko’s History series: “There’s History Around Every Bend”. - “McCaysville Magical Mystery Steel Bridge“. The Article, “ The Heritage Bridges of Fannin County“ has now been published in the Spring 2020 Issue of the Georgia Backwoods magazine. Many thanks to Steve Procko for including me on this project. I'm excited to include yet another Artist has now joined this project with her new poem, soon to be song about inspired by my painting.
Lucy Haris, well known Poet/Song Writer and Story Teller of Ellijay, GA contributes this:
A Tale of Many Crossings
A silver thread runs so true, through yesterday and today.
It’s heading for tomorrow no matter what I say.
Some days I’m moving with it, following the shine,
Some days I’m on the bridge, just looking for a sign.
Life’s a tale of many crossings, it’s a river deep and wide,
A silver thread of glory, leading to the other side.
Once I was haunted by shadows and anxious for my life.
I couldn’t find my way, and I was fearful of the night.
I knelt beside the river, thinking everything was lost.
Then, the sun rose in glory and showed me where to cross.
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a bright, holy sign,
A reflection on the water, shining in my longing mind.
My eyes were finally opened, the truth was deep and wide;
There’s a bridge to forever, leading to the other side.
Life’s a tale of many crossings, it’s a river deep and wide,
A silver thread of glory leading to the other side;
And I’m gonna keep on crossing, ‘til I reach the other side.
Yeah, I’m gonna keep on crossing, ‘til I reach the other side.
