I was commissioned to paint this prominent rock that decided on its resting place in "Little" Mountaintown Creek in Ellijay, GA. The creek is located within walking distance of my log cabin and runs into the same lake (Davenport) as our creek (Harper Creek). This rock was the 'deal breaker' when deciding on which property to purchase for the buyer's home. It is a beautiful piece of property and the Rock indeed enhances its beauty. This original oil was painted in the middle of winter. After taking many pictures to use as a reference, I added the green foliage and Rhododendrons blooming as requested to frame the scene naturally. Even in the midst of Summer, the creeks here in the North Georgia Mountains are the best places to go and get away from the heat, swim, fish or just sit and meditate.
