The Day the World Stood Still

The vines were resting on the hill,
The day the people all stood still,
And filled the world with silent prayer.
Breathing in the holy air.

There felt a comfort in the shade;
They saw the beauty God had made,
And they hoped the clouds would part,
And let the sun show its heart,

And I never thought I’d see it, the day the world stood still,
And every soul was praying on the top of the hill.

Father, mother, brother, sister,
Heard the wind begin to whisper.
It told a story to the vine,
Of little grapes turned into wine.

And then they bowed their heads as one;
They felt they felt the presence of the sun.
And all the people all stood still,
And laid their burdens on the hill.

And I never thought I’d see it, the day the world stood still,
And every soul was praying on the top of the hill.
Then the wind blew down from heaven, it was singing to the vine,
In the twinkling of an eye, the grapes were turned to wine.

This original oil painting 18 x 24 on linen portrays the view of the vineyards sloping down the hill under the clouds and the mountains in the background. You can barely see the cows resting on the hill. Many thanks to Lee Blaylock Delk for allowing me to use her lovely photo taken from their new Tasting room Deck as a reference. The New Tasting Room will be completely finished soon, making this the 5th Vineyard in Ellijay, Georgia. Ott Farms and Vineyards is North Georgia's Newest Vineyard owned and operated by Michael Ott & his blushing bride Lee. You should definitely add this vineyard to the lovely list of vineyards in Ellijay.
