This 11 x 14 oil on Belgium linen canvas was started en Plein Air during a class and finished in my loft. It was a most enjoyable day with fellow artists and our instructor, Ed Cahill from Marietta. I was lucky to find a nice cool spot under an old oak tree to work on this part of the Ellijay River that runs under the Bridge leading to Harrison Park. There are so many perfect little spots to paint here in Ellijay and the North Georgia Mountains. Thankfully, it gives us Southern Artist an idea for every blank canvas. Jan Kornegay Dappen is a self-taught artist. She is originally from Columbus, Ga and presently a local Ellijay artist living in the North Georgia Mountains. She is a founding member of the Gilmer Fine Artists Guild, Secretary of the Gilmer Arts Board and Chair of the Golf for the Arts Tournament-New Gallery/Education Center Renovation Fund. She loves painting en Plein Air and serves on the committee to help organize the Plein Air, Art in the Mountains. Jan primarily works in oils but also teaches classes in Acrylics.
