Unpredictable at Birch Harbor, Original Oil on 14 x 11 pre-toned canvas panel. I was fortunate, thanks to great friends, Bobbie and Dave, that invited us to share their vacation in Birch Harbor, Maine. They even took my easel, paint and brushes up in the car so we could fly. I was thrilled to be able to paint three pictures en Plein Air on site in Maine. This was the amazing view out the large windows of their rental house. It overlooked this little cove that had a total of 7 lobster boats that occasional switched out with skiffs or left the harbor for the day. This was the third painting of three en Plein air Paintings I started or completed in Maine. In this one, the wind was moving a lot and I felt like I chased the boats around the cove even though the were tied to their buoys. In this one, I captured the house across the cove and 4 of our favorite boats with a skiff. Every moment of the day changed constantly with the position of the boats moving in the constant breeze or the sun and weather changes. I must say, we had perfect, early warm days for the second week of May. It was a truly amazing experience and I am most grateful to my hosts and husband that allowed me to paint! We are very blessed with great friends. Two more of our amazing friends, Chris and Pam, live in Maine and we were able to hook up and enjoy visiting with them again and learning more about the lobster industry while enjoying some awesome lobster fresh off the boat. Thanks to them as well… many pictures to choose to paint at a later date from that part of our lovely trip. Thanks to them as well.
