Artist's Description
18 x 24 oil on Belgium linen canvas of a rural scene that I pass whenever I leave my cabin. It was a hot summer day in typical Georgia and the cows were cooling off in the little stream that passes right by the barn. The original will be hanging in the Ellijay Gilmer Art gallery from the 28th of July until the 30th of August. It will be available for purchase after that date.
About Jan Dappen
Jan Kornegay Dappen is a self-taught artist. She is originally from Columbus, Ga and presently a local Ellijay artist living in the North Georgia Mountains. She is on of the founding members of the Gilmer Fine Artists Guild, now called TAG, Secretary of the Gilmer Arts Board and Chair of the Golf for the Arts Tournament-New Gallery Building Fund. She loves painting en Plein Air and always participates in the Art, Plein Air in the Mountains event the third weekend of May every year.Jan primarily works in oils but also teaches classes in Acrylics. She has been recognized locally and internationally for the following awards: 2024 - LOBSTERING AT SCHOODIC POINT- 1ST Place, Gilmer Arts Juried Exhibition Competition in May, Ellijay, Ga....
