8 x 8 original oil on canvas panel board.“Persimmons & Pomegranate in our Mother’s Basket”for my sister Kaye on her 75th Birthday. When we were little, we lived in the Little White House ( what I always called it) that was 2 houses down from our forever brick home. We had a huge persimmon tree in our front yard. Nobody liked them but me, as my sister reminded me. They would drop on the grown and ferment and smell like a brewery! Then we had a Pomegranate Tree in the backyard at the Brick house. I was pretty much the only one that like it too. Shocker!! But the fruit trees were always a big deal. This year for some reason, I bought a few of these fruits to help decorate the table before I ate them. Then I decided to take one of mothers’s baskets and paint the still life for my sister. After recently touring Ellijay’s Candy Day’s Studio, I was moved and inspired by her painting collection of important & cherished “things” in her home. I brought many of these “important , cherished things” from mother’s house and will never find a place for them all... I would like to paint some of them myself! Candy, thanks for sharing your home, your talent and inspiration! Happy Birthday Kaye!
