Overlook View at Roo Vineyards Poster

A picturesque rural landscape features several small buildings nestled among lush green trees and rolling hills under a moody sky. The scene showcases the tranquil beauty of a countryside setting with a mix of light and shadow. This 14 x 11 original on Raphael oil primed linen on panel board was painted during Plein Air, Art in the Mountains in Elllijay, GA at Roo Vineyards. The view from the balcony deck outside the restaurant and tasting room is absolutely stunning and a delight to paint. There were several other artist painting with me on the deck and we struggled to keep our painting dry from the constant little showers. However, it was an amazing spot to paint. Roo Vineyard hosted a welcome reception for the artist during the 4 day event and it was a lovely venue and beautiful evening.

Jan Kornegay Dappen is a self-taught artist. She is originally from Columbus, Ga and presently a local Ellijay artist living in the North Georgia Mountains. She is on of the founding members of the Gilmer Fine Artists Guild, now called TAG, Secretary of the Gilmer Arts Board and Chair of the Golf for the Arts Tournament-New Gallery Building Fund. She loves painting en Plein Air and always participates in the Art, Plein Air in the Mountains event the third weekend of May every year.Jan primarily works in oils but also teaches classes in Acrylics. She has been recognized locally and internationally for the following awards: 2024 - LOBSTERING AT SCHOODIC POINT- 1ST Place, Gilmer Arts Juried Exhibition Competition in May, Ellijay, Ga....
