The Cross Roads Grocery was Established in 1907.
Although, it took on new ownership in 2015, it is still
the oldest, continuously operating store in Gilmer County. These old Grocery/Gas stores are historical icons in America. They are scattered all through our country back roads and little towns.
On April 22, 2015 Crossroads Grocery cut the ribbon and were officially welcomed back to the Gilmer Chamber family. Most of you are familiar with the iconic location at 8994 Hwy 52 East at the corner of Clear Creek Rd. We want to tell you some things you might not know about Crossroads Grocery. They have awesome food, including pizza, sandwiches, smoked salmon, and hand dipped ice cream. Jan Kornegay Dappen is a self-taught artist. She is originally from Columbus, Ga and presently a local Ellijay artist living in the North Georgia Mountains. She is a founding member of the Gilmer Fine Artists Guild, Secretary of the Gilmer Arts Board and Chair of the Golf for the Arts Tournament-New Gallery/Education Center Renovation Fund. She loves painting en Plein Air and serves on the committee to help organize the Plein Air, Art in the Mountains. Jan primarily works in oils but also teaches classes in Acrylics.
