Description
This original 12 x 9" oil was painted en Plein Air at the Mountains at Ellijay, GA. This was my submission for the Quick Paint Competition. You had to paint within 2 hours. This painting was sold at the auction but prints are available. This barn was owned by Bob Pinson Barn, McCutchen Road
Large Dutch gambrel roofed barn that could be driven through, stands nearly
three stories tall. Built in 1923. It has a covered shed on one side only.
Harrison Park was originally a farm owned by the Pinson Family of Ellijay. The Pinson barn still stands on the property and will be restored as part of the park build-out. The renovation of the barn into an event space that may be rented for weddings, family reunions, business events and more is part of the future vision for the park. Other future plans being considered are: to expand the walking trail, build a stage for theater and concerts, build public restrooms. As the community begins to engage in the design process, we will create a park that will become a destination for both locals and tourists visiting our town!
Harrison Park is 26 acres stretching out along the Ellijay River located just a short walk from Historic Downtown Ellijay. The Park was once farmland and preserves the natural habitat along the Ellijay River while providing an abundance of open space for picnic areas, benches, walking trails and numerous community projects and events. Future plans include stages for concerts and plays and movies as well as several festivals each year.
