Chosen Best in Show at Plein Air in the Mountains 2017 Ellijay, GA. This 20 x 16 Original Oil on canvas is the favorite tavern, pub in Ellijay. The Tavern claims it is in a "Little Drinking Town with an Big Antique Problem". Located in historic down-town Ellijay, The River Street Tavern is open for lunch, dinner and evening get-together's. "We are a small, intimate tavern that offers a family-friendly atmosphere which is loved by locals and visitors alike. You will love our staff and our tavern! We may get a little busy during peak times but we work hard to make sure every experience is a positive one. We will always try to not disappoint you! And they don't ! The Tavern was once owned by Henry Penland and he had a Grocery and Feed store. Next door in the checkered-board painted building, his brother Sam Penland owned another Grocery and Feed Store.
