The Cross Roads Grocery was Established in 1907.
Although, it took on new ownership in 2015, it is still
the oldest, continuously operating store in Gilmer County. These old Grocery/Gas stores are historical icons in America. They are scattered all through our country back roads and little towns.
On April 22, 2015 Crossroads Grocery cut the ribbon and were officially welcomed back to the Gilmer Chamber family. Most of you are familiar with the iconic location at 8994 Hwy 52 East at the corner of Clear Creek Rd. We want to tell you some things you might not know about Crossroads Grocery. They have awesome food, including pizza, sandwiches, smoked salmon, and hand dipped ice cream. They also carry a variety of supplies, similar to your old general store such as hardware and fishing supplies, personal care items, assortment of grocery items, and tobacco products. Stop by there and grab an iced cold bottle coke and chill out in a nostalgic atmosphere. They are also in close proximity to Amicalola Falls State Park, several of our apple houses, vineyards and Mountain Valley Farms.
You can head down to the Cartecay Vineyards and order food to be delivered from the Crossroads Grocery and enjoy our local wines. I met the nice owner that allowed myself and 4 other artist to set up and paint at his establishment. I also learned he is an artist himself and he serves a great Smoked Salmon salad.

Wonderful work of art and lovely story behind this historic and iconic place, Jan. I love old places like this. Just think, had you painted this in 1970, the gas prices for regular would have been 17.9 cents per gallon ( here in Tucson anyway ) A buck would buy over 5 gallons of gas! FAV / LIKE
